Your Questions Answered: Overqualified and Loving It
Monday, September 28th, 2009How do I convince a company that I will stay if they think I am applying as ‘overqualified’ and maybe looking for a better job..but if I apply for something I am underqualifed for..(like I have been) I am not getting calls. But as a single mother I need to find work soon, can you direct me to where I should start or do I have to go the McDonalds route due to hard times? THANKS IN ADVANCE!
Are you in some way passionate about the job or organization you’re applying for?
If so, then you can talk about your passion, how your qualifications will allow you to do a great job, and that you’d be interested in future possibility for advancement within the organization once you’ve proven yourself and opportunities become available.
If not, then you probably will be looking for a better job. Employers aren’t dumb and it’s a buyers market if there ever was one.
If you aren’t pursuing positions that are your passion, I recommend you check out job-right.com. It’s a step-by-step guided program to help you determine the career, job and organization that are ideal for you. I created it based on an effective process I’ve successfully used with scores of clients.
It may feel like you‘re scavenging for crumbs in this job market – might as well decide which part of the buffet table you’re sitting under.
Rooting for your success!
